Hit a rock and gouged your base? We specialize in precision ski and snowboard base repair — from small P-Tex fills to deep core shot recovery and full base welds. Using high-quality materials and proper bonding techniques, we restore both structure and glide.
Whether you're dealing with a simple scrape or need metal grip and base sheet replacement, our techs will assess and repair with performance and durability in mind.
Includes:
Inspection and cleaning of the damaged area
Base weld or metal grip anchoring for deep core shots
P-Tex fill or base patching depending on severity
Stone grind and flattening
Finish wax and brush
1. Damage Evaluation
We inspect your base for depth, spread, and proximity to the edge. Core shots are assessed for whether they need a base weld, metal grip, or full patch.
2. Core Shot Repair
For deep gouges, we use metal grip or a base weld to create a strong anchor before applying fresh base material.
3. P-Tex & Patching
Milder damage is repaired with traditional P-Tex candles or gun, while larger sections may require patching or even base sheet replacement.
4. Stone Grinding & Finish Work
Once cured, your ski or board is reground for flatness and structure. We follow with a wax and brush to restore speed and protection.
5. Final Inspection
We test for base flatness and ensure no raised edges, bubbles, or soft spots remain before handing it back, ready for snow.
What is a core shot?
A core shot is a deep gouge in the base of your ski or snowboard that penetrates through the base material, sometimes reaching the core. It’s typically caused by rocks or other sharp debris and needs to be repaired promptly to prevent moisture damage and delamination.
How do you repair a core shot?
We start by cleaning and evaluating the damage. Then we use a base weld or metal grip to anchor a durable repair, followed by P-Tex application and base grinding to restore glide and structural integrity.
What materials are used?
Repairs may involve metal grip (for edge-adjacent core shots), base welds, traditional P-Tex, or full base patching depending on severity. We match materials to your gear to maintain proper flex and durability.
How long does it take?
Most core shot repairs are completed within 24–48 hours, depending on shop load and depth of damage.
Can you repair edge damage or delamination too?
Yes — we assess the surrounding structure during any base repair. If edge separation or delam is present, we’ll provide an evaluation and quote for deeper repair work.
